Geography
Geography Curriculum Statement
We believe that through geography, children will learn to not only appreciate and navigate the world around them; but to understand the human and physical processes that have created it. Through creative teaching and learning, we hope to inspire a curiosity, fascination and sense of responsibility about the world and its people, which will remain with them for the rest of their lives. When studying the world, they will be encouraged to make regular comparisons to their own locality, to provide a context through which they can deepen their understanding of different locations. In addition to this, they will examine how human and physical processes interact, and can lead to significant changes over time. As they progress, they will develop the skills that they need to interpret a wider range of resources, including maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs and digital technologies. We hope to develop in all our children a vision of themselves as a global citizen, as well as a member of the local community.
