The Longfield curriculum

The Longfield curriculum:

‘Our intent is to create a rich, nurturing and diverse curriculum that is engaging and inclusive for all learners.

Our holistic approach offers challenging opportunities to develop increasing knowledge, independence and creativity.

We equip all children with the skills and confidence for success and lifelong learning.’

The content of our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum, a government document which outlines the expectations of what should be taught in all state maintained primary schools in the country.

The school has adopted The Cornerstones Curriculum throughout all years.  There are topics for each year group that are creative and cross curricular whilst ensuring that the objectives outlined within the national curriculum have been met.  For examples, Year 5 study Alchemy Island.  They will cover geography (physical and human features of places), DT (use a variety of materials to create images) and Science (properties of materials).

If you would like more information regarding the curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher.
