Governors' Information

Pam Virdee
I have been Headteacher of Longfield Primary School since it amalgamated in September 2011.  I am extremely proud to hold this role and am passionate about ensuring that every child leaves Longfield equipped with the skills and values needed to succeed in their journey through life.  I believe that Longfield should provide every child with memorable experiences that will remain with them to inspire and motivate them to be the best that they can be.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, Zumba, running and spending quality time with my family.

Chair of Governors / Co-Opted Governor
Elizabeth Whitcombe

I have been part of the governing body since July 2007 and even though my children are now at high school, I still really enjoy being part of the school community. I have a passion for ensuring that children are given every opportunity to achieve to their highest potential and it is a pleasure and privilege to see the school and the pupils go from strength to strength.

I have worked for Barclays bank for over 25 years and also do some voluntary work in the local community. I am a member of Elmfield church and part of their children and youth team. In my spare time I enjoy shoe shopping and eating chocolate.

Vice Chair / Co-Opted Governor
Stephen Pidgeon
I have two children at Longfield Primary School

I first became a governor in 2008 and am currently Chair of the Finance and Personnel committee. I originally volunteered as I was keen to ensure that the school was supported and challenged (where appropriate) to ensure that educational standards were the best that could be provided. This will no doubt become more challenging due to expected budget cuts over the next few years.

Clerk to the Governing Body
Sue Doel
My first contact with Longfield was as a parent volunteer and PFL supporter during the time my children attended Longfield First & Middle schools, whilst continuing to work as an administrator for a well-known retail company. I was recruited as a teaching assistant in 2004, and later was given the opportunity through continuing professional development to successfully train as a Learning Mentor. I joined the office team in 2010 whilst continuing to support children's learning in the classroom. At the time of amalgamation, I took the decision to move to full-time administrative work and since September 2012 hold the roles of PA to the Headteacher, Office Supervisor and Clerk to the Governing Body. I am very happy at Longfield and passionately embrace our goal of "working together achieving forever" to ensure the best learning outcome for every child.

In my spare time, I confess to being a Zumba addict, and enjoy teaching and participating in classes in both Pinner and Northwood.

Parent Governor
Mrs S Chadha

I am a mother of 2 daughters both of whom attend Longfield; the eldest in year 5 and the youngest in year 1, so Longfield is big part of our family. I have been a governor since 2018.
I strongly believe a child’s early education is crucial to their future academic achievements, development of social and life skills.  Teachers and teaching assistants are at the frontline of this work, but I believe the Governing Body works in the background supporting staff as they implement the ever-changing government policies where resources are stretched and often a challenge.
As a school governor, I feel I have become part of a team that supports the Headteacher, staff and most importantly, the wellbeing and safety of all.
During my spare time I love reading and traveling and watching sport.

Parent Governor

Mr R Siddiqui

I am a father of two boys and have been a Parent Governor at Longfield Primary School since summer 2018.

I always wanted to give back to society and it is my privilege as a Parent Governor to contribute towards the holistic development of children in the right environment and to support other governors, the headteacher and staff towards maintaining high standards of education.

I am passionate in my desire to help achieve the best schooling experience for our children, to give them the best possible start and foundation for a healthy and successful life ahead.

I have over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector where I helped organisations to enhance IT governance and security controls around their information assets. I am currently working for a big 4 accountancy firm.

I love to spend time with my family, travelling and watching movies.

Co-Opted Governor
Bijal Bavishi

I have been a parent here at Longfield since 2004.  ‘Giving back’ to the community is very important to me hence my commitment as co-secretary to PFL since 2008, a parent governor since 2011 and subsequently a parent helper. I now have the role of Co-opted Governor since December 2015.

Having had the opportunity to work closely and alongside the school I have seen the school grow from strength to strength.  I am proud to dedicate my time and efforts to Longfield and its pupils and staff.

Out of school, I pursue my interests in reading, party planning and event management.

Co-Opted Governor
Dareen Zakaria

I have been increasingly involved with Longfield Primary School since my eldest son joined reception in 2014.  A member of PFL, a volunteer and now a co-opted governor since September 2015, I have a profound interest in the development and well being of the children at the school.

I qualified as a chartered accountant with a big four Accounting Firm in 2004.  After having children, I decided to work part time as a finance manager for a commercial real estate firm based Baker Street.

I have also been able to pursue other interests locally in Harrow and am glad to be part of the governing body of the school where I hope to make use of my financial knowledge, experience and business acumen.

My hobbies include attending dance classes, cooking and travelling.

Local Authority Governor
Purav Rathod

I have worked in the Banking and Finance sector for the last 12 years. I believe in giving to the community; it is a privilege to be in a position to support the school with the required skills and experience which ultimately gives a sense of satisfaction to pupils and parents to be in safe hands.

I have my child in Longfield Primary School and I am also a governor with another school. I joined Longfield Primary School Governing Body in March 2019.

Co-Opted Governor
Neil Enright
I have been involved with Longfield Primary School since the autumn of 2009 when I was elected to the Governing Body of what was then the Middle School as Local Authority nominated Governor. As a teacher myself, I take a particular interest in matters concerning teaching, learning and pupil progress.

Since 2011, I have been the Headmaster of Queen Elizabeth's School, a selective state maintained school for boys aged between 11 and 18, in High Barnet.

Co-Opted Governor
Dipak Umeria
I have been a governor of Longfield Primary School since 2002, currently the longest serving member on the governing body.  I have lived in Harrow since 1986. Both of my children attended the school. I serve on the governing body as a co-opted governor. Previously I was the chair of Longfield Middle School for four years.

I believe my extensive experience of business is invaluable in ensuring the school is well run. I am particularly keen to help the school use its inevitably limited resources efficiently and to ensure it is effective in offering the best possible opportunity for pupils of all backgrounds and abilities to fully realise their own potential.

I have over 30 years experience of working in the public sector, with qualifications in housing, management & marketing.  I am also a qualified cricket coach and coach under 11's locally in my spare time.

Co-Opted Governor
Marilyn Cook
I have been a member of staff at Longfield since 1984.  I started work here as a Welfare/Teaching Assistant helping out in class and with the welfare of the children.

In 2008 I became a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. My role now includes covering teacher's PPA times across all year groups, working with groups and one to one teaching. I joined the Governing Body in the capacity of Staff Governor in 2006 and I am now a co-opted governor.

Staff Governor

Nina Sagar

Having been an ex-pupil at Longfield, I was thrilled to be able to join the school as an NQT in July 2010.  Since then I have had the priviledge of teaching many classes across Key Stage 2.  I am passionate about ensuring that every child is equipped with the key skills and provided with the appropriate learning opportunities to achieve success.  I am enjoying the opportunity to work closely with other members of the Governing Body in the pursuit of educational excellence for our pupils.

Deputy Headteacher / Co-Opted Governor
Suzy Cantlay
I have been teaching since 1995, during which time I have taught across the primary age range. I am lucky to be doing a job that I love and consider myself privileged to be involved in helping children to learn and achieve success. Every day brings new challenges for both teachers and pupils but at Longfield Primary School there is a wonderful partnership between staff, pupils, parents and the wider community. I am always so proud when I walk around school and see happy, motivated, kind and enthusiastic children engaged in the business of learning.  I have been a member of the Longfield Governing Body since September 2008.

In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and two children and can often be found at the local stables with our lovely horses Oliver and Ziggy.
